Silence

about

Uniquely soulful Nashville pop artist Sarah Lightman is no stranger to sharing her journey with mental health through music. "I originally wrote this song after being told I might need vocal surgery, and the amount of fear and shame that came with it. This experience over the last 3 years of writing and recording the master before vocal surgery, being misadvised to sign away the ownership of the master, and then having to make a big decision to completely remake it in Nashville as a result took a lot of persistence. I feel that it is timely to speak up about the taboo topic of the artist being on a pedestal, and popping that bubble to remind the world that this industry is hard and there is much struggle that we pretend doesn't exist. It is important to remind others we are human and raise awareness about vocal health. People more than ever are desiring authentic connection, and this is my way of sharing my story to help others, but also show listeners that you CAN overcome and keep going. You don't have to choose to be silent anymore and I'm showing you that by sharing this song."

lyrics

Silence

Verse 1

Haven’t said a word in a minute or so
Didn’t think I’d be feeling this low
There are so many things circling round my mind
There are layers of sadness and tears in my eyes

Chorus

Will I sing again? Will I sing again? Will my voice survive?
Will I sing again?
Is this the end or just a flash of time
Will I sing again? Will I sing again?
Ohhhh
No one knows

Verse 2
I sit alone and watch the hours fly by
Silence speaks my voice is locked all day and all night
Buried in the judgement as if they have a right

The longer I stay silent, the louder it gets

Chorus
Will I sing again? Will I sing again? Will my voice survive?
Will I sing again?
Is this the end or just a flash of time
Will I sing again? Will I sing again?
Ohhhh
No one knows

Bridge
Can’t breathe, can’t sleep, can’t think
Can’t see, can’t eat, can’t Be
Can’t breathe, can’t sleep, can’t think
Without this part of me

Can’t live, can’t love, Can’t lie
Can’t lie
Can’t lie
(Just Voice)
I can’t lie

Chorusx2
Will I sing again? Will I sing again? Will my voice survive?
Will I sing again?
Is this the end or just a flash of time
Will I sing again? Will I sing again?
Ohhhh
No one knows

Ohhh woah
ooh woah
Ooh woah
Silence

Ooh woah
Ooh woah
Ooh woah
No no no no

Ooh woah
Ooh woah
Ooh woah
Silence

Ooh woah
ooh woah
Ooh woah

Will I stay silent
